FAQ's

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes we do offer free consultations for any of our services and you are under no obligation to book an appointment following this. This will give you a chance to get to know your stylist / barber and also will help you decide if this is the salon for you.

Do we have any offers on?

All of our current offers will be posted across our social media platforms. If you don't have access to this please ask the salon / barbers where you are looking to book the appointment and they will be happy to advise.

Must I book an appointment in advance?

We do sometimes have last minute appointments however if you need your hair done for a specific date or a special occasion we do recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance so we can ensure your not disappointed and all prior requirements have been carried out i.e. skin allergy tests.

Will I need a skin allergy test?

All clients that are having a colour or highlight service will need to have a skin test at least 48 hours before their scheduled appointment, this applies if you are a new customer and have never had a colour carried out by us before - this still applies if you've had a colour or highlight service at another salon (not one of ours), if you've recently had a skin test and you've had a reaction, if you are pregnant or recently had a baby or if you haven't had a colour service carried out by us for 6 months.

You do not need to book in for a skin test as they only take a couple of minutes, just turn up to the salon you have made your appointment for and we can carry this out for you.

A skin test consists of applying a small amount of colour onto the skin and must be left on for 48 hours. Within this time please look out for any redness, itchiness, burning or swelling. If any of this occurs please contact the salon to make them aware. If nothing happens then wash this off as normal after 48 hours and we will then be happy to carry out your appointment.

Will my colour fade quickly?

It is normal for colours to fade particularly if they have been applied to pre lightened hair (hair that has been made brighter with bleach), or if the hair has been exposed to a lot of sunlight. In such cases, colours need to be topped up every couple of weeks to refresh the colour and this will then become longer lasting with time.

The colour will last longer if you wash your hair once or twice a week as opposed to everyday, it is also best to keep your hair protected by a sun hat or cap and use either a colour targeted shampoo and conditioner or ones that are sodium chlorate / sulphate free. This will extend the life of your colour.

Please speak to your stylist / barber for any aftercare at the end of your appointment.

What can I do if I do not like my hair?

Everything can be fixed, if you do not like your hair or if it wasn't what you were expecting then please do not hesitate to let us know and we will do our upmost best to correct anything you are not happy with. Please get in touch with the same salon / barbers you had your appointment with as soon as possible and we can make an appointment for us to discuss it with you and then we can move forward.

What happens if I can no longer make my appointment?

At Hipster Group we are determined to provide the best service possible, we understand that life can throw lots of stuff at you sometimes and can't always be helped however we do ask that you let us know at least 48 hours before your appointment slot and our stylist / barber will be aware that you are not attending.

If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment this may result in a charge of 50% of your appointment, if you do not show up and do not let us know you may be charged 100% of your appointment cost and a non-refundable deposit may be required for future bookings.

Nobody in the industry likes putting these policies in place and we hope we never really have to use them however we are still a running business and need to ensure that all of our costs are covered sufficiently.

Can I still get my hair done if I am late to my appointment?

If you know you are going to be late to your appointment please do get in touch and let us know as soon as possible and we can advise as to whether we can still go ahead with your appointment as planned. If we can still carry out your appointment please note that we may need to allow a shorter time scale however this will be discussed if and when you contact us, if you are not happy with this then please let the salon know and we can look at rebooking your appointment.

My hair is currently black and I want to be blonde, is this possible?

This is certainly possible however its very unlikely to happen in one appointment time, each and everyone's hair is different and we want to keep your hair in the best condition possible. Black to blonde is a gradual process and you must bare this in mind before taking the plunge! It may be best to book in for a consultation at your preferred salon location so our stylists can look at the current condition of your hair and discuss this with you further.

Can I pay by card?

Yes, we accept both cash and most major card payment providers.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, we sell these in our shops or if you are unable to get to one of our locations please get in touch with us either via social media or our main centre (Walsall - 01922 724700) and we will be happy to send out an E-Voucher

How to prepare for my hair appointment?

Please arrive to your appointment on time or 5 minutes early, this will give you chance to get settled in the salon.

If it is possible please wash your hair 1-2 days before your appointment, although you may have a hair wash included in your service (depending on what you have done) this helps ensure that your stylist can properly assess your hair and determine the best course of action. It also helps avoid any scalp irritation that could occur if you have product build up on your hair
